How to start accepting cryptocurrency in an online store on WooCommerce (WordPress)?

WooCommerce is the most popular WordPress e-commerce plugin, powering millions of online stores worldwide. So that you do not have to write API integration code manually, we packaged everything into a ready-to-use WooCommerce plugin — you simply install the plugin, enter your Secret API Key, select the cryptocurrencies you want to accept, and specify your own wallet addresses for receiving payments.

We currently support the following cryptocurrencies: USDT (on three blockchains: TRC20 Tron, BEP20 Binance Smart Chain, ERC20 Ethereum), BTC (Bitcoin), VMT (Vanishing Mitilena), APFC (ERC20 Ethereum), and VERDT (BEP20 Binance Smart Chain).

Our non-custodial payment gateway allows you to start accepting cryptocurrencies in a few minutes. Basic principles:

1. Download and install our WooCommerce plugin (Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin in WordPress) and activate it. A cryptocurrency payment option with a currency selector will appear on your Checkout page.
2. Register (takes about 5 seconds) in our wallet https://mitilena.com and copy your Secret API Key in the Settings section. In WordPress, open WooCommerce → Settings → Payments → Fast Cryptocurrency Payment Mitilena, paste your Mitilena Secret API Key, check the cryptocurrencies you wish to accept under Available Cryptocurrencies, and enter your own wallet address in the corresponding Receive address field for each enabled network (for example, your Tron T... address for USDT (TRC20, Tron), your 0x... address for USDT (BEP20, BSC) or USDT (ERC20, Ethereum), your Bitcoin address for BTC, etc.).
3. When a customer chooses to pay with cryptocurrency at Checkout, they select their preferred coin/network and are redirected to the Mitilena Pay payment page.
4. The price formation process is as follows: the total cost of the order in your store’s currency is converted into USD at the official central bank rate without markup, and then into the selected cryptocurrency.
5. Payments in USDT and other supported cryptocurrencies are detected automatically within seconds. Once the transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, the customer’s payment page signals that the payment was successful and redirects them back to your store. At the same time, our server sends a signed webhook request to your store and automatically marks the WooCommerce order as Paid.
6. Non-custodial (direct to your wallet): All payments go directly from the buyer to the wallet addresses you specified in the plugin settings. We never hold your funds — there is no intermediate balance to withdraw from and no withdrawal fee.

How are payments tracked?

Payments are tracked automatically using our Variable Symbol (VS) reference system: a unique 4-digit fractional tail is added to the end of the crypto amount (for example, 10.550437 USDT instead of 10.55 USDT — less than a hundredth of a cent, so the buyer does not overpay). This allows our system to identify the exact order on the blockchain while sending all payments directly to your own single wallet address per network.

How do I save with your payment tracking system?

Normally, traditional crypto gateways generate a brand-new disposable address for every single invoice. If you have 1,000 orders per day, payments end up scattered across 1,000 different addresses. To consolidate those funds into one wallet later, you would have to pay 1,000 separate blockchain network fees (for example, $1 or more per transaction). With Mitilena Pay, thanks to our fractional Variable Symbol reference technology, all 1,000 payments go directly to your single wallet address for that blockchain. You save up to 1,000 times on consolidation fees, and the funds are immediately in your own wallet.

What other benefits?

How can I see in WooCommerce that an order was paid for with cryptocurrency?

Each order paid via Mitilena Pay stores additional custom fields inside the WooCommerce order details: transaction hash (blockchainHash), blockchain/protocol, cryptocurrency symbol, and token contract address (if applicable).

How do I receive or withdraw the paid cryptocurrency?

You do not need to withdraw anything from our system. Because Mitilena Pay is non-custodial, every customer payment is sent directly on the blockchain to the wallet address (Receive address) that you configured in the WooCommerce plugin settings. The funds are immediately in your own wallet with zero withdrawal fees.

Do I need to verify the store or company to get started?

Not needed at the moment. In the future, some jurisdictions around the world may require it.

If the payment fails, will it be possible to manually resend the payment link?

Yes, you can send the payment link through any messenger or by email. When the specified amount is paid to the specified wallet address within the invoice validity period (14 days), regardless of which wallet the buyer uses, the order will automatically receive the paid status.

What is the default status for a paid order?

In WooCommerce, the default paid status is Processing (wc-processing). In the plugin settings (Order Status), you can change it to any status you prefer (for example, Completed).

Does your system send a separate email to the customer about the payment?

At the moment we do not send a separate email from our side — WooCommerce itself sends its standard order confirmation email when the webhook marks the order as paid. We do not store your customers’ email addresses for marketing.

Does your platform store any information?

We only store the minimal technical invoice data required to match the blockchain transaction and deliver the webhook notification to your store.

Are there any trackers tracking information on your end?

From our side there are no advertising trackers or marketing cookies. AdGuard AdBlocker shows 0 blocked requests on our payment page.

Does your platform share customer information?

No, and we don’t plan to.

What fiat currencies does your plugin support?

Approximately 147 world currencies — almost all ISO 4217 currencies. The plugin automatically uses the currency of the WooCommerce order. Note that the market rate of USDT is not always fixed at 1.000 USD (it can be 0.999 or 1.001): first your store’s fiat currency (for example, NOK or EUR) is converted into USD at the official central bank rate, and then USD is converted into the selected cryptocurrency at the current market rate.

Can I add my own cryptocurrency to your system?

If your token is on the Tron blockchain (TRC20), Ethereum (ERC20), or Binance Smart Chain (BEP20), there are the following possibilities:

1. Within your store or chain of stores (up to 10–15 stores), we can add your token for 1990 USDT (payment link). After payment, write to us at support@mitilena.com with your store addresses and token details, and we will enable your token via the API. We can use either a fixed rate or a live market rate (CoinMarketCap, CoinGecko).
2. If you want to add your coin across our entire network, you need to own at least 1% of our shares.
